Focus Eye Health & Vision Care is committed to servicing our community.
From being the Team Optometrist to the Eastern Conference Champions New Jersey Devils, to being an Optometric Consultant to the New York Giants, and the co-founder of Special Olympics Healthy Athletes. The doctors of Focus Eye Health & Vision Care, Drs. Berman and Esperon, believe in being actively involved in the community.
We are also committed to seeing low income persons in our community and work with the Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiation, the Essilor Vision Foundation, the Jackson Avenue School in Hackensack and Special Olympics New Jersey athletes.
Dr. Berman is proudest of being the founder of Special Olympics Lions Clubs International Opening Eyes and co-founder of Special Olympics Healthy Athletes. These programs are in over 80 countries and 44 states. The Opening Eyes program has distributed over 100,000 pairs of glasses to persons with intellectual disabilities, often the most neglected people on the planet. Often times these prescriptions are life-altering. He has experienced countless hugs, smiles and gratitudes from these athletes and their families and feels blessed to be able to make a difference.
Dr. Berman also works with Lions Clubs and Essilor to open clinics in Africa and Haiti, as well as making eyewear affordable throughout the U.S. for persons with low income.
Approximately half the people in the world are blind or visually impaired because they need a simple pair of glasses. Dr. Berman is focused on working for a day when that is no longer the case for people in Hackensack, Bergen County, New Jersey, the United States and globally.
